Bio

Furniture designer and sculptor, Robb Helmkamp has had a life-long fascination with folk art and military traditions of the world. Working in wood and metal, he uses a variety of techniques including lamination, vacuum pressing and carving. The resulting pieces are studies in pattern and form with elegant, fluid lines.

Robb received degrees from West Virginia University and Haywood Community College (NC). He continued his studies with several accomplished North Carolina wood artists and then established his own woodworking studio, Kamp Studio, in Asheville, NC. Recipient of the 2010 NICHE award nomination(for excellence and innovation in craft), Robb’s work has been exhibited throughout Western North Carolina. His furniture and sculptures are included in numerous private collections in North and South Carolina, Georgia and Colorado.
